Favorite Bars in the Area

  • Blue Dog Tavern - A favorite chill date spot for Killian and Bettina. You like hot dogs and tots? You are going to love Blue Dog.

  • Bestside Bar and Grill - The spot for many a wedding planning meeting.

  • Graydon’s Crossing - A west side staple and the location of Killian and Bettina’s first date! A lot of beers on tap and a great place for brunch on Saturday or Sunday!

  • Z’s - This is late night bar in Grand Rapids. We have been there, we just don’t remember.

Things to See

  • The Blue Bridge - Part of a scenic walk through Downtown Grand Rapids. Start at Rosa Park’s Circle and make a loop around.

  • Riverside Park - A big open park along the river that was the home course for the Aquinas Cross Country Team. Also where the Grand Rapids and District Pipe Band holds practices in the summer. A great place for a run or a walk!

  • East Town - Bettina lived in this area for many years during and after college. Lot’s of small shops, restaurants, and young people trying to figure themselves out in this area!

  • Aquinas College - Undefeated in football since its inception in 1886, it is the Alma Mater of both Bettina and Killian. Though they never met there, they made many life long friends and enjoyed living on the beautiful campus. Aquinas College does not have a football team.

  • Fredrick Meijer Garden & John Ball Zoo - These places are only related in that they show up at the top of the list in a search of what to do in Grand Rapids. We have not been to either, but are sure they are lovely.

  • Lake Michigan Hiking/Beach - we are about 30-45 minutes from the beach towns of Lake Michigan like Holland, Grand Haven, and Saugatuck, etc. There are some great hiking trails and beaches to visit if you are coming early or are wanting to extend your trip. Keep in mind, they become quite busy during the weekends in the summertime.
